Our district is firmly committed to excellence—both in academics and in the broader mission of fostering equity by identifying and removing barriers that stand in the way of student success.

At the heart of this work is our people. With more than 7,000 students and over 800 employees, the Human Resources Department plays a vital role in building and supporting a team of dedicated professionals who educate, nurture, and inspire our learners. We believe the strength of our schools lies in the talent and passion of those who serve in them.

Our mission is clear: to attract, hire, and retain individuals who reflect the rich diversity of our community and who bring energy, skill, and a deep commitment to student growth. Together with our administrators, staff, and the Board of Education, we strive to create an environment where everyone—students and staff alike—can learn, grow, and succeed.

Welcome Here. Welcome Home.

Highlighting Staff in South Orange & Maplewood

The image shows a smiling woman wearing a denim jacket standing in front of a sign for Clinton Elementary School, which is recognizing Casey Dickson Haber.

Mrs. Haber has made a lasting impact on the school environment. Mrs. Haber helped design and build Clinton’s sensory room, giving students a space to reset, focus, and feel comfortable. Working with colleagues, she also helped create a sensory wall, turning a shared idea into something meaningful for the entire school.

Dr. Gelin Prasied for Advocacy

Dr. Antoinette Gelin consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that our Haitian Creole families feel supported, informed, and valued within our school community. She meets families wherever they are...within our schools, during conferences, in their homes, and even at their places of worship...demonstrating her deep commitment to building authentic relationships rooted in trust and respect.

As a people-centered organization, we know that our greatest strength is our staff. The Human Resources Department is dedicated to attracting, hiring, and retaining talented, passionate, and qualified individuals who bring both skill and a deep commitment to multicultural education. These team members are essential to creating inclusive, supportive, and high-performing learning environments for our students.

In partnership with district leadership and the Board of Education, HR works to align our efforts with the district’s mission, vision, and goals. Our role spans recruitment, professional support, compliance, and collaboration—all with the purpose of cultivating an environment where every employee can thrive and contribute to the success of our schools and community.
