Long Range Facilities Plan

The District’s Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP) was first developed and approved several years ago to guide essential renovations, repairs, and new construction projects across our schools. That plan initiated much of the early design and approval work completed between 2019 and 2021 under a prior District and Board of Education administration. Since that time, the district’s needs (and the scope of its responsibilities) have continued to evolve alongside changes in enrollment, programming, and infrastructure demands.

Today, the Long Range Facilities Plan serves as a living document: a strategic blueprint that informs how the district addresses facility needs related to safety, security, capacity, and infrastructure. The Board of Education’s principal objective is to maintain a district-wide plan for future capital, maintenance, and transportation needs that advances educational opportunities for students while responsibly and sustainably managing taxpayer funds.

The current LRFP outlines recurring, district-wide priorities focused on:

  • Improving safety and accessibility across all campuses

  • Modernizing infrastructure, classrooms, and technology

  • Supporting student health and wellness through updated facilities

  • Upgrading grounds and outdoor learning spaces

LRFP Development Process

  1. Information Collection: Gathering input through administrator, staff, board, and community interviews; student feedback; facility tours; and professional evaluations by architects and engineers.

  2. Information Evaluation: Prioritizing district needs, reviewing financial implications with the Finance & Facilities Committee, and sharing recommendations with the Board and public.

  3. Approvals & Submission: Submitting the Board-approved plan to the New Jersey Department of Education for review and state acceptance.

LRFP as a Living Document

The LRFP is not a spending plan, nor does it impact taxes or debt directly. Instead, it positions the district to qualify for state support and funding opportunities for future projects. Project prioritization within the LRFP remains dynamic, allowing updates as facility conditions, enrollment, and educational programs evolve. Adoption of the plan ensures the district remains proactive, compliant, and ready to act on its most pressing facility needs in the years ahead.
